About us
Hello, I’m Janine — the quilter behind TheFatQuarter Quilting.
Patchwork and quilting have been a huge part of my life for over a decade. What began as a creative hobby quickly became a passion, leading me to design my own quilts, experiment with colour and fabric, and immerse myself completely in the craft.
In 2018, I founded TheFatQuarter as a fabric shop and creative space in Banbury, building a wonderful community of quilters through classes, workshops and shared creativity. After several happy years running the shop, I decided in 2024 to close the retail side of the business and focus fully on what I love most — longarm quilting and teaching.
Today, TheFatQuarter Quilting is a specialist longarm quilting service based in Banbury, Oxfordshire. I work from my home studio using a Handi Quilter Infinity 26 with Pro-Stitcher mounted on a 12-foot frame, helping quilters transform their finished quilt tops into beautifully completed quilts.
One of the greatest privileges of my work is seeing the creativity and care that goes into every quilt. Whether it’s a first quilt, a treasured gift, or a memory piece filled with meaning, I understand how much time and love has already been invested before it reaches my studio.
Alongside longarm quilting, I continue to teach patchwork and quilting courses at venues around Banbury and Brackley, sharing skills, confidence and creativity with both new and experienced quilters. Teaching allows me to stay connected to the quilting community that has supported my journey from the very beginning.
My aim is always to provide a friendly, professional and supportive service, helping you choose quilting designs, thread colours and finishes that enhance your quilt while respecting your vision.
Thank you for trusting me with your quilts and for being part of TheFatQuarter Quilting journey.
Happy quilting,
Janine
