Creating a Fabric Shop - Week 1

Creating a Fabric Shop - Week 1

Setting up in 2020, TheFatQuarter has been purely online for the last year.  We are now (June 2021) moving on to the next chapter in our story by setting up a retail store on the edge of Banbury.  Our new store will run along side our online business, allowing customers to come and browse our fabrics and learn new skills in our beautifully designed, brand new classroom.

Our new store will be based at Cherwell Business Village, an easy to drive to location with ample free parking and a cafe.  There are approximately 100 businesses onsite and TheFatQuarter is about to become one of them!

Before we can open our doors though, we need to convert the (previously) office space into a beautiful new home for our fabric and i thought that i would bring you all along for the ride.  So at the end of week one this is how we are looking:

Shop Floor:

Week 1 - Small Fabric Room Construction

Above: The smaller shop room has almost been fully painted

Below: The larger shop room has had walls knocked down to create a more open plan space for the fabric shelving

Week 1 - Main Fabric Room Construction

Classroom:

Week 1 - Classroom Construction

Above: The classroom walls are beginning to be knocked down to make one large, light and airy space for our workshops.

Each week i will update you on our progress and give you insights into what you can expect in our new store.
